KORY LaQUESS PULLMAN

Biography

Kory LaQuess Pullam is a multi-disciplinary artist who was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Kory has been blessed to share his work across the nation on many stages. Locally, he was most recently seen at The Alley (Seared), Stages Repertory (Othello: The Remix, The Hispanic/Latino/Latina/ Latinx/Latine Vote), Main Street (Kim’s Convenience), The Ensemble (Love and Southern Discomfort, A Motown Christmas), and Rec Room (Death of a Salesman). Regionally, Kory has worked with The Guthrie (Choir Boy, The Parchman Hour), Mixed Blood (Is God Is), Penumbra (Pipeline, Girl Shakes Loose), Raven Theatre (A Soldier’s Play), New Village Arts (1222 Oceanfront), and at Park Square where he played the title role in Hamlet. Kory is the founder of Blackout Improv, an ensemble of artists who use comedy as a tool to tackle serious issues. He is also the founding artistic director of Underdog Theatre, where he wrote and directed the critically acclaimed productions of Baltimore Is Burning, Rock Bottom, and Odd Man Out. In 2016, the Star Tribune honored Kory as Artist of the Year. In 2017, City Pages (Minneapolis) recognized him as Artist of the Year as well. In 2019, Blackout Improv was recognized by MPR as Changemakers for “breaking barriers and busting guts.” Kory owes everything to God and is incredibly grateful for his family, friends, and community as a whole.
