SARA GASTON
Biography
Sara Gaston is a member of Actor’s Equity and has been a teaching artist since 2007. In addition to teaching for organizations such as the Alley Theatre, the AD Players and the JCC in Houston, she began her own studio. A lifelong student of the craft, she continues her own studies to expand her capacity both as an instructor and as a performer. Her most noted work is the one-woman show, “Red Hot Patriot" about political columnist Molly Ivins, which has been performed for 3 separate runs, including both Texas and California. She has performed on various stages throughout Houston including The Alley Theatre' the Hobby Center, Main Street Theater, Stages, and Mildred's Umbrella. She has worked with Tony and Obie-winning directors. She received a B.A. in Drama from the University of Texas in Austin and has continued her studies with Steppenwolf's Jeff Perry; Kim Rubenstein (formerly of the Long Warf Theatre); Dave Razowsky, Rick Kuhlman, & Sheldon Patinkin (Second City, L.A. & Chicago); the Groundlings; Guy Roberts (Prague Shakespeare Company); Lesly Kahn; and Margie Haber. She recently directed her first short film, the award-winning “I Was Gone for Awhile”, which has been shown in festivals throughout the country, including Los Angeles and New York.
