HUGO CARBAJAL

Biography

Hugo Carbajal is a seasoned theatre artist with over two decades of experience as an actor, director, and educator. Known for his dynamic physicality, emotional depth, and sharp comedic instincts, Hugo has performed with a wide range of acclaimed companies including Alley Theatre, Cal Shakes, San Francisco Mime Troupe, Hartford Stage, Huntington Theatre, Shotgun Players, Cuttingball, TeatroVision, LA Playground, and Bay Area Children’s Theatre, among others. His television credits include appearances on hit shows such as SWAT, Bosch, Good Girls, and Brooklyn Nine Nine.

 

As a teacher, Hugo is deeply committed to cultivating authentic expression, ensemble awareness, and bold physical storytelling. He has taught acting, movement, and devised theatre at universities, conservatories, and community programs across the country. His approach is rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and the belief that every performer has a unique story worth telling. Whether working with seasoned professionals or emerging artists, Hugo fosters a space where risk-taking is encouraged and creative voices are empowered.

 

With a career that bridges stage and screen, performance and pedagogy, Hugo continues to be driven by a passion for stories that move, challenge, and connect us. 

 

Hugo is currently playing the role of Elyot at the Alley Theatre’s production of Private Lives. Playing now through June 15.
