Acting I - Section A

Description

Acting I - Section A September 10 - October 1, 2026 (4 weeks) Thursdays - 7:00-9:00pm (2 hours) Instructor: Brenda Palestina Student Limit: 14 Cost: $225 Acting I is an exercise-based class that is rooted in practical exercises and self-discovery. There is a reason that almost all training programs start here. It is the foundation on which to build strong performers and commanding work. The complete Acting I program is divided into four-week sections (A, B, C, D, E, F). Each offers a specific focus, and all add up to a whole. Students are encouraged to complete A, B, C before taking the D, E, F, but may take the sections in any order. Every section in the Acting I course includes exercise-based work to learn the basic tools of acting, as well as opportunities for applying those tools in scenes or monologues. Each section has a different guiding focus: Section A focuses on LISTENING & CONNECTION: This section introduces students to the ability to use their senses and imagination to enter a story. As actors, we are asked to be open to what is given and respond: acting is reacting truthfully to imaginary circumstances. Exercises in this section will be geared toward sensory awareness and creating the imaginary circumstances or environment for your character. The driving focus will be connecting to the environment, scene partners, and self so that they can affect you and allow you to respond with authenticity. * This class is for adults 18 and above. Beginner's welcome Payment plans are available with a $100 non-refundable deposit. If interested in this option, simply contact us at studioforactorshouston@gmail.com to make arrangements.
