Acting I - Section F

Description

Acting I - Section F November 15 - December 13, 2026 (4 of 5 weeks) (Skip November 29) Sundays - 4:30-5:30pm (2 hours) Instructor: Kory LaQuess Pullam Student Limit: 14 Cost: $225 Acting I is an exercise-based exploration of the actor’s fundamental tools. Sections D, E, and F continue the work begun in A, B, and C, bringing the actor’s growing awareness, imagination, character work, and technical skills together. Section F focuses on INTEGRATION: TRUTH, CHOICE & PERFORMANCE. The actor’s challenge is not simply to know the tools—it is to know when and how to use them. In this final section of the Acting I sequence, students will bring together the work of listening, connection, text analysis, character development, improvisation, relationship, and storytelling. Through a combination of improvisational exercises, character exploration, scene work, and performance-based exercises, actors will be challenged to make clear, specific choices while remaining open to discovery. The work will focus on finding the balance between preparation and spontaneity: knowing what you want, understanding the circumstances, and then allowing yourself to truly live through the moment. Students will explore how to make choices that are active rather than decorative, how to pursue an objective without forcing an outcome, and how to remain connected to a scene partner while telling the larger story. Improvisation will continue to be used as a tool for breaking habits, increasing freedom, and discovering unexpected possibilities within scripted material. Section F is an opportunity to put the pieces together—to move from understanding the fundamentals of acting toward using those fundamentals with greater confidence, clarity, imagination, and truth. Actors who complete D, E, and F should leave with a deeper understanding of their own creative process and a stronger, more flexible foundation for continued study [PREREQUISITE: Students are encouraged (not required) to complete sections A, B, and C before moving on to D, E, and F. But all are welcome.] * This class is for adults 18 and above. Payment plans are available with a $100 non-refundable deposit.
