Acting Techniques for Musical Theatre February 1 - March 1, 2026 Sundays - 2:00-5:00pm Teens 12-18 Instructor: Amanda Martinez Cost: $360 Build confidence in your musical theatre performances by training characterization, vocal technique, and highlight the emotional connection to music through performance. Key Elements: Text Work: exploration of subtext, motivations, and relationships within the context of musical theatre scripts. Enhance spontaneity and creativity with improv exercises Vocal Performance Train in singing techniques specific to musical theatre, including breath control, vocal projection, and articulation. Training in : -Scene-to-song transitions, ensuring a natural and fluid shift from spoken dialogue to singing. -Ensemble work to develop teamwork and stage presence in group numbers. -Feedback on connecting with audiences and sustaining energy during performances. -Repertoire Building: selection and preparation of audition material tailored to participants’ strengths and goals. -Exploration of classic and contemporary musical theatre works. Student Pre-Requisites: 2 Contrasting Songs (Can be Traditional Musical Theatre, Pop/Rock, Country, R&B, Jazz or Gospel) cut in the 64 bar style. (Approximately 1 min and 30 seconds) The final class includes a student showcase performance from 4-5pm. INSTRUCTOR Amanda Martinez is a professional actor, singer, and acting coach. She received her BM in Musical theatre from Oklahoma City University. Her training as a singer had a strong emphasis in classical music and opera. She has performed internationally, Off-Broadway, and in regional theatres across the country.
