Filmmaking for Teens March 21 - April 25, 2026 (6 weeks) Saturdays - 10:00am-12:00pm Instructor: Byron Franco Student Limit: 12 Cost: $360 This 6 week Filmmaking course offers practical training designed to broaden your ability to be a creative storyteller through film. You'll learn script development, production organization, lighting and camera techniques, acting direction, and editing/postproduction in an environment that mimics a real film set. With a combination of in depth discussions, practical exercises, individual projects, and personalized feedback, this course will introduce you to the world of film directing. By the end of the class students will have a fully developed short film. Week 1: Introduction, overview, and Script Development Week 2: Preproduction Week 3: Filming techniques(Camera and Lighting) Week 4: Filming & directing actors Week 5: Editing Week 6: Postproduction and film industry next steps * This class is for students aged 12-18. INSTRUCTOR Byron Franco is a filmmaker/actor with over 10 years experience in the Houston film industry in a variety of roles from PA, Camera Assistant, Lighting/Sound Technician, Editor, and Director. In addition to writing/directing his own short films, he has acted in over 30 short/feature length productions.
