Dr. Karen Rees spent many years on the faculty of Sam Houston State University's renowned Musical Theatre Program. Throughout this 2-week, 8-hour workshop, singers of all levels will explore the process of building or updating their musical songbook and performing their cuts for auditions. Open to all performers 16 and up.

Musical Theatre Audition Songbook Tune Up January 18 - 25, 2025 [2 weeks] Sundays - 2:00-6:00pm Instructor: Dr. Karen Rees Student Limit: 7 Cost: $240 Throughout this 8-hour workshop, singers of all levels will explore the process of building and performing cuts. Most musical theatre auditions require 16-32 bar cuts (about 45 seconds), so every second counts.  Singers of all levels will build two creative cuts that highlight vocal ability and acting skills. We will walk through editing cuts and constructing a book showcasing vocal ability and acting skills. Bring your current songbook with you for input and review. If you are starting, learn how to build your songbook from scratch.  Participants will sing during the workshop and will have an assignment between sessions. * This class is for anyone 16 and above.
