SFAH Summer Film Studio for Young Performers Rising 6th-8th Graders July 27 - August 8, 2026 Monday - Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm Instructor: Byron Franco Cost: $545 Designed for middle school students with a serious interest in filmmaking. This is a two-week summer intensive offers young performers a deep dive into the fundamentals of making movies. Led by experienced film acting professionals, each day will include classes in acting technique, voice and speech, movement for the actor, improvisation, and scene study. Students will work closely with teaching artists in a focused, supportive environment that encourages risk-taking, creative exploration, and artistic growth. The week will culminate in a showcase of work-in-progress scenes and monologues. Ideal for students who are passionate about acting and eager to train like a pro, this camp is both challenging and inspiring--building confidence, craft, and community. Space is limited to ensure individualized attention. Early registration is recommended. Monday-Friday - June 1-5 - 9:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday - June 8-12 - 9:00am-3:00pm Saturday, June 13 - 11am-5pm - (Screening @ 3pm) INSTRUCTOR Byron Franco is a filmmaker/actor with over 10 years experience in the Houston film industry. In addition to writing/directing his own short films, he has acted in over 30 short/feature length productions. He has taught various classes for students of all skill levels and believes in an active learning approach. He's excited to improve your self-tape audition and on-set skills through a mix of warmups, scene work, and immersive training.
