Shakespeare: Acting Fundamentals May 6 - June 3, 2026 (5 weeks) Wednesdays - 2:00-4:00pm Instructor: Jonathan Gonzalez Cost: $240 Why are actors drawn to Shakespeare? Because the characters are fun and larger than life while also remaining deeply relatable and human. This class will provide simple tools to enable actors to unlock the complexities of Shakespeare’s language, and make strong and clear choices to help them create personal and powerful interpretations of Shakespearean characters. By the end of the course, actors will have a fully prepared Shakespearean monologue and a stronger foundation they can apply to auditions, rehearsals, and classical work moving forward. Jonathan Gonzalez is a New Mexico native and veteran theater artist with over 35 years of professional experience as an actor, director, and educator. He has taught at more than 50 schools and organizations—including Marin Shakespeare Company, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Marin Theatre Company, and Main Street Theater. He has led international workshops and founded long running youth programs serving over 1,500 students annually. As a performer, he has worked extensively in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Houston, appearing in productions such as Othello, Macbeth, and The Tempest, and is known for a teaching philosophy centered on creativity, collaboration, and helping actors find their unique voice.
